Aguilar orders police visibility to assure residents, shoppers

Las Piñas City Mayor Vergel ‘Nene’ Aguilar today ordered the local traffic and police personnel to maintain its monitoring and police visibility particularly in nine "chokepoints" areas to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and public safety during the rush for the Christmas season.

Aguilar instructed city police chief PS/Superintendent Jesmar A. Modequillo and Traffic Chief PS/Inspector Albert DT. Arevalo to strictly enforce traffic rules and regulations in nine areas such as: Philam, Sta. Cecilia, Moonwalk, Casimiro, Manila Times, Christ the King Villages, Concha Cruz in Barangay BF International/CAA, Daang Hari in Barangay Almanza 2, Barangay Zapote Junction and Barangay Pilar considered "chokepoints" areas in the city and apprehend traffic violators.

Vehicle owners and motorists who have friendship route (FR) stickers will be allowed access to selected private villages and subdivisions in Las Piñas until 12 midnight, Aguilar said.

He warned policemen not to extort money from traffic violators.

Aguilar also directed policemen to conduct foot and mobile patrol in various establishments, malls and other commercial places frequented by shoppers and consumers

Deployment of policemen in places where people mostly converge like shopping malls, markets, churches and parks is a must as deterrent to any criminal element.

“Special attention should be given to peace and order so that people from all walks of life can truly enjoy the holidays,” Aguilar said.

The local chief executive likewise said additional traffic enforcers would be deployed and directed the local police to closely coordinate with barangay tanods (village watchmen) to patrol the city streets on a 24/7 basis in their respective areas.(END)
